VG-MAX & SUS420J2
These two steels are found in the Seki Magoroku 10,000 series, which features our proprietary Composite Blade Technology. VG-MAX is the newest in the line of VG super steels and is proprietary to Kai. VG-MAX includes more carbon to improve strength and durability. It has additional chromium for wear and corrosion resistance. More cobalt enhances strength. Increased tungsten enables the steel to be very ﬁne-grained, so the edge can be extremely sharp. Molybdenum improves corrosion resistance and strength. Vanadium improves impact resistance and enables the steel to form vanadium carbides, which enhance cutting performance. The Seki Magoroku 10,000 series puts this high-performance steel on the cutting edge with highly stain resistant SUS420J2 steel on the upper part of the blade.
A Japanese high-quality, high-carbon stainless steel. It provides good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, toughness, and the ability to take a razor-sharp edge. It also resharpens easily when needed. This steel is found in the Kai PRO series.
A German-made high-carbon, high-chromium stainless steel. It provides good corrosion and wear resistance, and resharpens easily when needed. This steel is found in the Luna and Inspire series.
A Japanese high-chromium stainless steel. It provides good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, toughness, and the ability to take a razor-sharp edge. Kai’s heat treatment brings out the best qualities in this steel. 1K6 is found in the Wasabi series.
